Data Export and Switching Policy

How customers retrieve data, switch providers and complete deletion.

Last reviewed

During the contract

Customers can download individual original documents and generated signed versions through the application. Workspace administrators may request a complete export by emailing hello@codeandcomments.at from their registered address with the workspace name and required data categories.

A complete export can include original documents, available metadata, folder structure, notes, share/signature records and other customer-generated data to the extent exportable without exposing another person’s secrets, security data or legally restricted records. Data is supplied in commonly used, machine-readable formats such as original file formats, JSON and CSV. Derived security controls, provider credentials, internal risk signals and proprietary model parameters are not exportable customer data.

Switching and termination

We provide reasonable switching assistance and information about available formats. The default notice period for a requested switch is no more than two months; the normal technical transition period is up to 30 calendar days after that period, unless technical complexity requires a longer period and we explain the reason and expected duration. No switching charge is imposed for the standard self-service or standard export process.

After termination, customer data remains retrievable during the 30-day recovery period unless the customer instructs permanent deletion earlier. At the end of the retrieval period, operational data is deleted according to the Terms and DPA, and completion can be confirmed on request. Statutory billing/evidence records and rotating backups follow their separate retention cycles.

Customer preparation

Before switching, the customer should verify the export, preserve encryption keys/passwords that it controls, identify dependencies on connectors or share links, and test import with the new provider. Third-party source data remains governed by the source provider and is not altered by a PaperPlane export.

The standard service currently has no guaranteed real-time provider-to-provider migration API. A custom transition plan, enhanced assistance or a specific open interface may be agreed for a Business customer.

Press Shift twice anywhere, just like in Paperplane.
